Triton Novel SR Silent Power Shower vs T90 SR

Hi, Looking at these two showers, the guy installing it installs T90SR showers, but I found the Novel shower for the €239 online, so wanted to get that as I thought it was a better shower.

What are the negatives to a power shower. I've heard that they can't be used a few times a day. But I am unsure on how much truth there is to that.

EDIT - Apparently the Novel is not a replacement for Triton, needs to be rewired differently and needs constant hot water. So that's that. (I can't delete post on new format).

The Triton T90SR is an electric shower. It will give you 3 (on a very cold day) to 4.5 ( on a very warm day) liters of warm water per minute almost instantly. It is cheaper to run than a power shower (unless you have solar heated water. Solar heated is cheaper) as you don't use as much water & there is zero wastage.

The Triton Novel SR is a power shower. This will put out up to 14 liters of warm water per minute so it's a much more pleasurable showering experience. The downside is you will have to heat the water before showering.

There is no reason why a person installing T90sr showers would be unable to install a Triton Novel. If he is unable then I wouldn't have him install any shower to be honest.

€239.99 is below cost & could be a mistake in pricing. Even at this price though you could be better off having a dedicated installation company supply & fit rather than you supply. If you supply you leave yourself open to Triton saying a fault is due to the installation & the installer saying it's the shower. Better for a good tradesman to supply & fit & for them to stand over the whole job.

Thanks for the detailed reply, that is fantastic..

The link is here, I just realised it is ex-vat.

FWIW - I linked to the shower, so he could purchase it and istall it, and charge me.

This is the cheapest I think. It's stock from before the price increase I would think. They have recently gone up €25 & the T90SR €20. I would expect these showers in the link to increase shortly too.

Can only add I have a T90SR and it's grand if entirely unspectacular.

Will nite that the noise reduction dies straight away so it's only silent for a few weeks. Anecdotally I know 5 who fitted them (family and friends doing up houses) and only one was anywhere near the volume after the first month and all run audibly a year later.

I repair & install these for a living. I work on well over 1000 showers per year & haven't come accros a single one doing as you describe. In 5 years I haven't seen 5 dodgy motors in these showers. These motors are bullet proof. They have a much longer lifespan compared to motors with brushes. You should have gotten in touch with Triton in Maynooth. They would have resolved it under the warranty.

EDIT: they are unspectacular though. All electric showers are. They are convenient but power shower is more enjoyable shower

Motor works fine. Just loud for a silent shower.

Day 1 compared to day 30 was a big change in db's. All showers bought, fitted and used independently (all over the country).

As I say anecdotal and it's not an overly loud shower but alas it's claims on silence are way off.

As I say I've never heard that complaint before.I'm repairing these 5 years later & all still as silent as new. It's a new one on me. If there was a genuine problem Triton would have resolved it for you free of charge

If it no longer functioned as a shower I'd have contacted them. But since it washes me along with humming audibly I'm not too fussed 😁.

Just describing my experience for the OP.

I hear you but 5 different people, different showers & different homes experience the same problem within a month of having the shower installed & not a single one gets it repaired totally free of charge under the warranty? You have some very unusual friends. My phone would be hopping if showers I installed failed in such a way within a month of installation. This definitely isn't typical of clients in my experience. I'd love clients like you & your family

    MOD NOTE

OK. I'm going to close this now as the op has been answered, in as far as he needed an answer.
