Planning for change of use

Hi all

I’m looking into purchasing 0.5acre adjacent to my house to extend my garden. It’s currently agricultural land. I’ve looked to find info on if planning is required to change it from agri to residential but can’t seem to find any. I’ve no intentions of building on it as of right now but maybe that might change in 15 or 20 years when the kids grow up.

anyone have any idea of what the process is

You wont need permission for that unless you build something on it

I do not understan why people need permision to build somethin on their own land. That is simply insane. In Texas you can dig and setup oil pump if you are lucky enough to find.

I think the OP wants the land rezoned as residential now so that he can be comfortable that, if he wants to build a residence on it in the future, he can get approval for that.

I very much doubt that but if it is true I’m glad I live in Ireland!

That was extremally case. Of course nobody would like to have neigbour in residential area digiing for oil. But this is true. I found on this forum discussions.texasbowhunter.com/showthread.php?t=577405
