BMW - seatbelt not extending

    Strange one this.

    I have a 2017 BMW 3 series.

For the last few weeks, when I enter the car, the seatbelt on the driver's side will not pull out from the holder. It only does so piece by very little piece and it can take a few minutes to extend enough to reach the buckle.

It only seems to happen in the evenings and I'd say it has only started since we had a spell of good weather but this might be a coincidence.

I can't find anything online. Has anyone any explanations or suggestions?

    Thanks!!

I've seen it happen the other way where it's slow to go back in, solution to that was to extend out the entire belt and to wash it in detergent/washing powder. Is the belt particularly dirty looking?

    Thanks Atlantic,

I wouldn't have said that it's dirty looking and it's a beige colour so it should be more noticeable.

That said, I'm going to do as you suggested over the weekend and that might fix it!

Yes here's a video I've seen on how to do it, you might need either towels or a hairdryer to dry it, not sure Irish weather will have enough heat from sun to naturally dry it.

That's the opposite problem though, I don't think it will help the OP.

    Not your ornery onager
