Import VAT questions

    Hi everyone.

My car is stopping in Holland, it is worth to do customs over there and avail of their 9% VAT or the moment the car will arrive in Ireland I have to face the 23% Irish VAT?

I tried to contact Revenue but they were elusive and I didn't get a straight answer.

Another thing, on the revenue site it says cars 4 years or older has to go to NCT testing. Since I'm pretty sure it won't be road worthy at the moment of the arrival, how can I deal with that?

    Thanks

Where did you buy the car?

Yes, you can pay the VAT anywhere in the EU, do you have an address in Holland you can use?
