hi all - i swapped my rusty old Sky Dish box for a brand new one today taking advantage of the lovely weather and I set it up blindly without a signal meter (because I don't have one) looking at the angle of the old dish I took off the wall and looking at the next door's satellite dish and seeing roughly from where it was pointing and then moved it in increments side to side and up and down from there

i have full bar of signal strength , but try as I might even moving the dish increments, I cannot get the 'signal quality' all the way up to the top its one bar/block under. And on another TV with free to air satellite it says 100% strength and 95% signal quality. Is this the best I am going to get it?

Its a lovely sunny day today and calm with no wind , but I am just wondering with the signal quality only 95% or not up to the top could rain/wind make the pictures pixelize/ break up and freeze or should it be good enough signal not to do that?

    Cheers.

    details:

Location: County Sligo. Dish 60CM (sky2) brand 'Raven' - (Quad LNB - SKY) - angle of the LNB twisted to '1' mark on the bracket

The LNB should probably be at the 2 or 3 mark for Sligo, so that might be worth a try, although if the signal quality doesn't show any improvement, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for that - do you have any idea what the difference is between signal strength and Signal quality as in what they stand for please ? - and is that like signal quality that the broadcaster is outputting or the quality of the cable/fittings from the dish to the Sky= box?

In my experience signal quality readings are kinda nebulous, especially on Sky boxes. It's a bit like two phones on the same network, one has 5 bars and the other 3.

It's fine Andy, I would leave it as it is.
