Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Laptop Advice

Been going back and over between a few options for a new laptop now for a while and wondering am I buying at a bad time for value and would be better off waiting until end of Summer sales or Black Friday.

But is anyone able to tell me whether a Ryzen 7 - 5700u is worth £50 more than an i5-1135G7 based laptop? Both are 16GB, 512 GB. I've been doing some digging through google for an opinion but I'm conscious that AMD and Intel both have their "followers" who don't always state objective opinions on the difference between the two or at the very least are prone to exaggerating the merits of one over the other.

Will be using the machine for everyday use and some work, nothing programming or editing intensive, and some light gaming. Looking up different forums seems to suggest that the Ryzen is better for multi-core tasks (? completely over my head) and will be a little more future proofed because of it's extra cores.

So I guess what I'm asking is will paying extra for the Ryzen 7-5700u mean the laptop's life span is increased a bit?
