Considering upgrading - circa €20k

    Being toying with the idea of moving up the years the past month or so, but a little hesitant due to the way the market has gone this year. Budget is around 20k, will be my first expensive buy.


    Cars I'm considering are the :

    Octavia VRs

    Focus ST TDCI

    Golf GTD

    F20 120d

    F30 320d or 330d M Sport (Non M Performance)


    I realise that the 330d is in a different league to the others but the one that my heart is telling me to go for. There's very limited supply here and anything in NI is either liable to duties, has a high Nox charge or being molested with a M Performance kit. I could be waiting a while and 20k is scraping the barrel.

    My experience of BMW reliability the past couple of years has being mixed so not sure if a 3.0 diesel is the best move. I park out on the road as well at night so would probably need to have a good security system on it.


    Outside of BMWs I seem to find myself looking at the VRs most on DD as there's a decent selection. Supposedly there great to drive due to their steering rack I'm told ? Hearing mixed opinions on manual v Dsg. Most for sale are manual obviously. I'd be coming from an auto.

    I hear the Focus is a decent car as well but not as common. Would be looking at an ST3. Anyone able to say how it compares to the vRS or GTD ? Would be looking at manual only in these. Love both the stealth and meteor grey on both cars.
