Hi folks, i'm looking to purchase a power drill for general DIY. Have bought a new house so will be used for DIY jobs around the house. Also wan tthe power screwdriver function and possible a decent set of drill bits with both screwdriver and allen key drill bits for putting together firniture etc. I was looking at the DWWALT DCD776S2T-GB 18V 1.5AH LI-ION XR CORDLESS COMBI DRILL Looking for some quick feedback as hoping to buy today. Cheers

Decent drill for DIY, Dewalt are very reliable. Battery is small at 1.5AH some might say but for DIY purpose I think its quite adequate.

thanks for tips, there's also a spare battery in the one i was looking at so should be fine for the small jobs i'd need it for.

fairly certain that's the one i have, very happy with it. you can buy bigger batteries too but two batteries should be more than adequate for general DIY use.

Having watched a couple youtube tests, Milwaukee and Makita would be my choices, but for light DIY, probably everything on the market would suffice.

I sourced almost all my Makita tools from the UK before Brexit as Irish prices were insane. If I was starting now I'd go DeWalt as the availability is better so the prices are more likely to be competitive.

I think Makita are used quite a lot on sites but no idea where the pros source from. Maybe they get decent trade discounts.

I’ve used a similar dewalt for years for work and they handle piles of work. Got a couple of 4Ah batteries afterwards for it which are really handy.

I have a Bosch (PSB 1800 LI0) with the same battery specs (18v 1.5Ah) and it's fine for most jobs. Comes with a good charging base too.

Don't expect it to go munching through concrete on the hammer setting, mine is far too light for that.

We have switched to German sellers, though it's a bit of a hunt, at times, to find ones that will ship outside Germany.

i've seen the Bosch Advanced Impact 18v recommended too but can't seem to find any Irish suppliers/shops also seems to be different models floating around too. https://www.bosch-diy.com/gb/en/p/advancedimpact-18-06039b510a-v100047446#variants

Not sure how much difference is between this and the vastly cheaper Universal Impact 18 but the universal seems to be in stock more.
