    Hi guys

I'm looking to move from prepay to billed with EI.

What's the process? There's a meter installed but it's not connected.

Just ring them and they will sort it out for you . It's not a problem changing over .

Do you need to have signed up with a new provider first?

It's for a friend and I've no idea about prepay, neither does he except its costing him 500 a year more than bill pay.

Call them and discuss it.Bill pay tariffs etc Might have to change the meter,go direct debit.Or when you change to billpay you could ask them for an EasyPay card. This is a payment card linked to your account. You can make payments towards your bill(minimum e20)whenever you like.Makes it similar to prepay.Billpay with this payment card makes a lot more sense if you have the discipline to keep making payment throughout the billing period.

    Hi SouthWesterly,

Thank you for getting in touch.

Is your query in relation to electricity or gas or both? The Pay As You Go device can be deactivated for electricity, but gas would require a brand new meter.

Is the supply currently with another provider on prepay or with Electric Ireland on prepay?

    Kind regards,

    Aoife

    Hi aoife

The electricity is currently with prepay power.

Do EI organise the meter to be reactivated.

    Hi SouthWesterly,

Thank you for getting back to us.

The customer will need to register with Electric Ireland. Prepay Power will then automatically be informed that the customer is switching away. The customer will need to contact Prepay Power to get the Pay As You Go meter reverted to bill-pay mode.

You can switch to Electric Ireland by calling 1800 305 090 or online: https://www.electricireland.ie/switch/new-customer/price-plans?priceType=D

    Kind regards,

    Aoife
