Looking at booking 10 / 14 days in Mauritius in October, they have a "full" opening date of October 1st and as I'm fully vacced it seems I only need to have a PCR test 72hrs prior to departure...

I have a number of concerns here, for instance, booking in the next few weeks, ensuring I'm insured in the event of cancellations and renewed lockdowns. And also the return, will things change in Ireland and I would be subject to some strict quarantine.

Anyone any thoughts or have a similar trip planned?

If I was planning long haul travel it would be booked very last minute when you have the best chance of having relevant information re restrictions here and there.

Insurance wise, most polices won't cover Covid now so you'll have to do a lot of research and probably pay a high premium.

There are risks, especially regarding travel outside the EU.

Make sure your tickets are fully flexible (free cancellation within 48 hrs for example). Many 3rd party sites rely on no-refund policies as a significant source of their income, while flexible internationally tickets can be significantly more expensive.

Multitrip.com add limited covid cover but it won't cover travel against government guidance.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with leaving everything last minute. I got great value in Torremolinos by booking months ago.
