Converting conservatory to bedroom and bathroom

    Hi,

My mam has applied for a downstairs toilet through house adaptation grant.

There is nowhere I can think of to put it other than an extention to the back of the house. She has no understairs or hallway.

There is a small conservatory with plastic roof, all windows etc. I was hoping she would get a grant to cover a bedroom/bathroom by turning the conservatory into the bedroom and bathroom.

So she had a quote for about 85,000 to do this... Alot of builders she had out had no idea where to put it other than the back of the house, they say they'll call back but don't.

Will having the existing room make it more difficult to do this, ie more work for the builders?

Has anyone had this problem or any idea what to do?

    Thank you

Interested in this as we are planning something similar. Have you had quotes on the cost for this extension?

Hi, unfortunately I got nowhere with this. Builders seemed to be not interested at all, don't know if it was the adaptation grant or too much work... I must've tried about 20 builders. The ones who called out quoted me 25,000 ish, but then I couldn't contact them again or they fobbed me off. Hope you have more luck than me!
