Looking for a one way flight from London (Heathrow preferably) to Dublin for this Sunday August 15th, best I can come up with is £181 with Aer lingus, is this a typical price these days...........are we gone back to the 80's type air fares, anyone else book a flight recently ?

supply and demand dictates prices, and supply of flights have not caught up with demand.

wont be forever, but will be for foreseeable

Cheaper next week, peanuts the week after.

I'd imagine there's fewer flights and if they fill up the prices rise.

If renting a car or getting a bus isn't a problem, sometimes London to Belfast is ok. For Dublin Aer Lingus, I've noticed, is often a better option vs Ryanair when a flight date is very close to the booking date. Ryanair then prices are often even steeper. If booking way in advance, Ryanair is normally cheaper.

If City Jet is still operating, they're sometimes in ok price from London City Airport.
