    Hello,

    My son is about to start intensified training with a new football club.

    I need to buy him a heart rate monitor. There are a bewildering array on amazon, at wildly varying prices.

    Any tips on best value for money?

    chest strap version is best as they are far more accurate

    if you want to use it without a phone / watch during sport then you need one with built-in memory to upload afterwards

    so rules out the cheap ones as they only give real-time data as can't store anything

    so decent ones are ->

    Polar H10 (1 session memory)

    Wahoo Tickr-x (more storage)

    Garmin HRM-Tri (more than polar, less than wahoo x)
