Whirlpool Vented Tumber Dryer

Hi there

I was drying clothes today. Dryer was working. However, the filter light was on and I ignore it.

After about 45 minutes the dryer prematurely stopped. Decided to clean the filter at the base of the dryer. Was so much wet gunk.

Put the filter back in, plugged in and pushed in the Start button. There is power going to the machine, see light and hear the machine, but the tumble dryer is not turning.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking that the capacitor need to be changed.

if you a hum coming from the motor when you press the start sensor and the drum wont rotate most likely a faulty capacitor which is 8uf but check first that the drum is not stuck.

Yes I was thinking that. Got a capacitor from John Carew in Lower Griffin Street, Limerick a few years ago for similar issue. I may go that route.

Drum is not stuck when I physically rotate it clockwise. Flywheel spin.
