Barely recognised Grillo in this; usually plays a heavy in exactly this kind of movie - which, looks like Assault on Precinct 13 with the serial numbers sanded off, and some extra buddy comedy bits.

So basically "Assault on Precinct 13 Smokin' Aces"

    Missed Pixelburp's post above.

Strangely enough I've become a fan of Gerard butler during all the lockdowns. There was Olympus has fallen, Angel has fallen, Den of thieves, Greenland, some other one involving a submarine, and in every single one he plays Gerard Butler, but it seems to work. So Gerard butler and Frank Grillo, who is this generations Roy Schieder...........Im in.

This looks great. Big fan of Gerard Butler and Frank won me at Boss Level.

They're not releasing this ahead of awards season, but I'm totally in too. Hold my brain please, I'm watching a movie.

Saw this earlier and I enjoyed it. The script is tight with some genuinely funny lines but there's a pacing issue here which I'm not sure if it's the directing or editing that's at fault. There's a flatness to scenes that should be sparkling with energy. Anyway overall it's solid and worth a punt, very much in the vain of Assault on precinct 13 and Rio Bravo. Frank Grillo is criminally under rated and Gerard Butler is becoming a dependable and likeable leading man.

Just back from this. Was enjoying it until Lamb showed up and then it all turned to sh!t for me. The cops were so fcuking dumb it pretty much ruined my enjoyment of the movie. Its a pity because it was actually decent enough for the first half but it just descended into a farce at a certain point.

Thought it was a terrible film myself,

    Bored throughout it all.

If anything lamb made it abit interesting.

But the story just felt all over the place.

The cops were stupid, they literally done what every cop in the states would not do.

I wont go into it deeper because it would be spoiling a few parts. But I don't think I will ever be giving it a second watch.

Forgettable action film that seems from another era with a tone that seems all over the place. It starts off like a thriller, delves into a comedy and ends in blaxploitation. Alexis Louder did well to hold the lead and Butler is trying, bless him, but I don't think this will bring anything new to you. Except maybe the amount of foreshadowing that occurs.

Had a blast watching this last night. Great fun. Reminded me of an early Soderbergh or Sonnenfeld movie.

Final third got a bit daft, to be fair, but forgivable. Alexis Louders character was great.
