Brackets fell out of wall

    Hi All,

Just looking for some advice on how to proceed. I'm not particularly handy but don't want to spend money on something I think might be a very simple job. (Happy to spend it if it turns out not to be).

Recently, one of the two brackets holding up my hallway blinds fell out of the wall leaving a hole in the wall. I've tried plugging it back in (with new wall plugs) but the hole is too big and the piece keeps falling out.

    See below images

    1. 1st image showing hole in wall where the bracket fell out
    2. 2nd image shows the other side of the window, where other wall bracket is still firmly in place

I'd like to put the blind back up and had spoken to someone about using a filler to fill the hole and hold the bracket in place again. If so, what type of filler/putty would I need.

    Any help appreciated.

There are larger plastic wall plugs designed for plasterboard available in most places. They have a plastic clip to help hold them in place.

The brackets also have screw holes into the side wall, these would be loaded in shear and unlikely to pull out. You might even find some timber behind there. I would fill the original holes and use these.

Just screw into the wall (drill and plug) using the side holes

    What Dilbert said.

Get some of these sort of fixings

Have a look on UTube there's loads of handy DIY guys doing various stuff.

    Good Luck

Can also screw onto the window frame.

    This would do the job.

Leave it a couple of days before drilling new holes.
