Grundfos Vertical Home Booster Tank and Combi Boiler

    Hi All,

I am looking to change my Boiler (system) to a Combi Boiler. I have received a few different quotes and I don't want to take the water directly from the mains. I have no pressure in my showers as the tank is in the attic and the bathrooms in the first floor. So I am between 2 quotes, one with a Grundfos Vertical Home Booster Tank and 2.0 pump which the person is saying that will be less noisy and another is adding a pump either in the attic or in the hot press. The old hot water tank will be gone. But the Grundfos will have to be placed there as won't fit in the attic door.

What would be the best option?

The Grundfos Booster Tank or a Walrus HQ200 2.5 in the hot press with pad?

Also, I have a quote for a Veissmann 26kw and a Bosch 30kw. Which one would be better?

The quotes are very similar I price. So I am not sure which one to pick.

    Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would go for Bosch over the Veissmann.

As for the water tanks, it depends on how much you need the hot press space.

Is under the stairs an option?

Thanks for your answer. I wouldn't mind the space, but I read some bad reviews about Grundfos not being as silent as they say. So I am not sure if would be the best option removing the tank in the attic and having the Grundfos tank with the pump in the hot press room between bathroom and bedroom. I am afraid if doesn't work properly and if is too noisy as is more expensive than just a pump with a pad. Thanks.

There will always be a bit or slight hum from pumps even those in water tanks.

Most times undue noise falls on the installation. The Walrus TQ pumps are very good and quiet in attics if you put them in correctly. I've done a few over the years and you can barely hear them. But sometimes, tank location, pump location etc it's hard to completely eliminate the noise. But generally they are very quiet, even for light sleepers.

What would be the best option in your option? The Grundfos Vertical Home Booster Tank and 2.0 pump or just a pump? Would be only around €200 more expensive with the Grundfos tank.

    Thanks!

It really depends on the distances needed to route pipework etc.

One of the concerns for me straight away is the correct routing of the overflow drain pipe from the tank located in the hot press. And any noise from that same tank filling up.

From a maintenance point of view the hot press is handier than climbing into the attic 😁 , but then, how important is that space to you.

Pipe routing would be my first look at, but personally I would put it all in the attic and gain the hot press storage space.
