Travel to Cyprus

    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before but...

We are looking at booking a few days away and are thinking about going to Cyprus? Just wondering has anyone any insight into what it might be like over there at the moment? We have searched online and haven't been able to find much updated info!

Our second choice is the Algarve, which we may go as it does seem more straight forward and also we have been able to find out more online about it!

Thank you for any help with this!

It is fine, you need a vaccine or test cert to enter almost anywhere (even outdoor) but life feels fairly normal there. Cases are quite high but if you do want to travel I'd see no reason not to go there. Incredibly warm at this time of year though.

Thanks for that, still in the planning process so appreciate the help! Got our second vaccine on the 1st so hoping that with cover us to travel and dine out from the 15th in most destinations! Thanks again!

Flew over yesterday. No bother at all. If you're fully vaccinated you just need your DCC and to full out the Cyprus Flight Pass. You will need that as well to get into a y indoor area, even a supermarket.

If you're not vaccinated you'll need to do PCR test at the airport and they'll send you out the results. You don't need to hang around.

Thanks for the reply! That sounds great then and luckily we should be covered with our vaccines by take off then! The more research we do into Cyprus the more we like the look of it!

Is it true actually that you need to wear a mask everywhere there? Except the beach? Not a big deal when we are so used to them here but just wondering!

Hope you have a lovely holiday!

I've only seen people wearing masks indoors. While cases are high here everyone just seems to be getting on with life.

Masks are only really needed indoors and the a very high portion don't seem to understand how they work.

The only other thing to be aware of is the rules around testing to enter any restaurant or cafe (even the outdoor parts) and some workplaces. If you are unvaccinated or have children, they need to be tested every 48 hours. This was free up to 1 August but now there is a charge for it (plus you need to wait in the sun for a while to get the test then get the result). There is a fairly high anti-vax population and this seems to be the way to force them to get vaccinated.

Tourists were exempt from this rule with the PLF, but I think this is changing as there is some local pressure about this
