    Hi All....

Had a new front door fitted recently - about 2 weeks ago.

They had to do sone repair work and had to re-plaster some of teh damage to the wall.

Had some of the old paint left over and so put some on today to bring back the wall.

but DISASTER..... a few hours later the new paint is peeling back. Anyone advise what went wrong here???

And how to salvage this now and get it ready for a re-paint again

    Regards

    Hi.

New plaster can have a lot of suction, so thin the first coat of paint with 40% water.

Scrape of the peeling paint and lightly sand the area first. 1st coat thinned and then apply 2 more coats unthinned. Allow at least 4 hours between coats. Hope this helps

Yeah as said above , the paint you put on was too thick and you probably put the second coat on before the first coat was dry ,, if you have any oil based undercoat you could sand and scrape the loose paint away ,, put oil based undercoat on that area and then touch up with the emulsion .

Normally once it peels once it will peel again unless it gets a oil paint coat.

    Thanks guys.

I’ll scrap back the blistering then and sand the areas again to blend in all the edges.

I’ll thin out the paint and apply one coat for the moment. i might wait a few days and then apply another thinned coat. And then wait again a few days and apply the full version. Thanks again
