Grateful to hear about peoples experience with family counselling in particular or other types of relationships. Much needed in the family but concerned about how complex it is to deal with multiple people and how that works in practice.

Would also be extremely grateful if anyone could DM me for any specific centers/therapists that they had positive experience with. Thank you.

OP, for a start PMs are not allowed in Personal Issues. Any recommendations can be posted on thread. - Mod Note

Do all relevant family members want to go to counselling? If so it should be easy enough to get everyone to agree. If not then there’s not a lot you can do except maybe arrange some individual counselling for yourself.

Recommendations from others will only go so far to help. Each situation and individual is different so a counsellor that one person found great, mightn’t work for another.

Have you been to your GP?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, all members are willing to attend. There seems to be few family therapists association of ireland around dublin that one can go to privately so i was hoping to get some input on people's experiences. Though I take on your point, it hadn't occured to me that individual experiences may differ given the complexity of the task. GP had previously recommended only local public counselling services which take a very long time to see people but the pandemic has tensions at a boiling point to be honest. I might check and see if they know any good private places.

This link might help, you could narrow down to therapists near you, first of all.

There is a specific link within it, to Family Therapists.

    Hope that helps.
