My long held 7970 gpu has been giving me artifact's the last few months and now it's been causing the pc to freeze. When it freezes it hangs after a power cycle ie it won't turn back on for awhile. I pulled out my old a8n deluxe and tried it with Ubuntu and had the same issue so it's definitely the GPU. My question is should I now try the oven reflow to see if I get more life out of it ?

I would try to downclock it first. Failing that, you can try the oven, you got nothing to lose.

Tried the downclock to no avail. Thanks that's just the reassurance I was looking for Cordell.
