Got car NCT’d couple of weeks ago, car not 10 years old till November but they only issued a 1 year nct cert, instead of a 2 year one, when I questioned them they coming up with some cock n bull story about covid extension, i think they pulling a fast one here, anyone else caught up in this nonsense?
Some of the NCT certs were extended due to covid closures. If your car was due in Dec 20, and they extended it to July 21, and you did a test in today, then your new cert, if due 2 years, will be issued backdated from Dec 20. So 2 years from then, not from today. I think that is reasonable. What is the full date on the new cert - month and year.
If you got an extension then your new NCT goes from the extension date onwards not the old renewal date.
Im sure it didnt for mine. In fact, I bought a corsa and its new nct cert only had 8 months on it due to the extention.
My NCT was due last march, got extended to July, my new date is July 22.
Car was due for test in March, when i went to book test i was told that due to covid my test wasn’t now due till June, got car tested in June and they issued a cert for one year till June 22, my point is that my car is not 10 years old till September this year so should i not have gotten a 2 year certificate?
Was it overdue when you bought it?
My TT was NCT'd at the end of the extension and they gave me the full 12 months.
I am obviously having a brain fart. I bought the car, which did the nct the previous friday, and it only had 8 months on it. Must take a closer look now. Got me worried.
Car was in test when i bought it 20 months ago.
No. It had a fresh cert. Must go and dig it out.
Would this extension be the reason why my disc in the window says the nct is due 10/21 but the website says its due 02/22?
