Pumpkin plants, one pumpkin only?

I have a pumpkin plant at home growing and it is doing great, water nightly, fert weekly. Should I just let one flower turn into a pumpkin I want a whopper pumpkin rather than a few small ones. Also, should I stop it from growing further as it's about 9 feet long now?
