Possible Scam Website Comeback ?

    Hi all,

recently I made a purchase of two electrical items from an online retailer.

the total came to 154 euros... while not cheap per say it was quite decent value...

the website is well designed, professional looking...

however the reviews on trustpilot are mixed to say the least... with more bad reviews then good with people claiming to have ordered, been billed but not received items as the main issue...

i should have done more research before purchasing but due to the professional nature of the website and the items required ASAP and so on alarms didn’t ring...should have though..

there are a few positive reviews but they all appear rather similar in the language used and the gist of praise so I’m guessing same person which means I’m pretty worried...

what recourse exists should I not receive the items ? Can I cancel / stop payment through my bank now and see what happens ?

Did you receive the goods, were they genuine? How did you make the payment?

No, the order was only made yesterday morning first thing..the payment was made using a debit card, thanks.

Website name would be a start

Paying by card you'll be fine for a chargeback

Thanks, It would be a start indeed ideally but I’d be a bit wary perhaps in naming a business directly in relation to accusations of negative / illegal activity as I’m sure the moderators may take exception...thanks.

If in naming the site they are a scam you are doing a service to society

If they are reputable then nothing lost to them

Can PM if you want but online retailers are called out all the time on boards even the "reputable" ones - there is a thread for "is this a scam site" I'm subscribed to but don't have the patience to try searching for it, quick search gave nothing

PM sent, thanks.... just looked at Facebook reviews and it’s pretty obvious that it’s shady to some degree.

lots of people maintaining that while they received their electronic goods that they were damaged or faulty (missing parts) on arrival and some people maintaining that despite being billed that nothing arrived... and it was impossible to contact them...

it has the odd positive review but I’d not be sure how genuine..

Well this evening I received a notification of a UPS shipping reference from them... a two piece shipment. I went onto the UPS site directly as opposed to via their link and used the reference and it appears to be all good...

so from the point of view of them processing and actioning a delivery it looks ok... just the only concern as other trust pilot users have claimed would or could be faulty goods / goods damaged in transit... they are a couple of remote control Klarstein digital stand fans from a company called hifi tower...

Trust Pilot is well known for it's fake reviews

My mother fell victim to a scam recently, after ordering a large item off some ad on Facebook, she got the shipping notification and received a small envelope a few days later which she signed for not knowing what it was, it contained a small key ring and now the seller has my mother’s signature and is claiming they sent the correct goods

The weight of the package should sort this issue out. As in if your Mam ordered a microwave, the package would weigh more than the keyring.

Hopefully she paid by CC or Paypal and got her money back

Facebook is a cesspool of scams

It was delivered by an post, she went to open a dispute saying she never received her goods and they said they have her signature on file for the delivery and if the goods are incorrect then she needs to deal directly with the seller, the seller is in China and is just messing her around. She has since checked the reviews and comments on Facebook and it’s happening to almost everyone who ordered from them

arrived on Friday but I’ve had a lot going over the weekend with my Dad in hospital so boxes just sat there but these are well packed for a start, outside of boxes in perfect, damage free condition so will try assemble and get working tomorrow and report,

Looks like you are sorted. Buyers should never feel the issue of being scammed is fully on them, at the end of the day the payment facilitator has allowed the dodgy retailer to be a trusted seller using their systems and able to accept funds, majority of blame should be always with them.

it was a false alarm. my worry was unfounded.

fans arrived, both are great, packaged well, easy to assemble and actually work great....
