Clueless about Cars

But what I would be looking for is something reliable and would be able to get a few years out of (at least 5 years). Id be willing to spend between 8-12k. There seems to be a few options…

Hi all,
So I'm in the market for my first ever car and as the title says I'm fairly clueless at what constitutes decent value for a car. But what I would be looking for is something reliable and would be able to get a few years out of (at least 5 years). Id be willing to spend between 8-12k. There seems to be a few options but I have no idea what to look for? Any suggestions and things to look out for would be greatly appreciated.
