Anyone else having this problem? I remember this happening years ago in another house. Since this evening our house is like an oven, batteries in the alarm are ok. All windows open but the alarm a has gone off a few times.

It's more likely a heat detector.

    Is it in the kitchen?

I tbink it's the alarm in the landline/hallway upstairs.

Might be an optical / heat type sensor type there - any manufacturer details on it? Could ask them if the model is appropriate for that location? There's an Ionization type you can get but I'd talk to an expert about ensuring you have the right one for that location first before changing.....
