Digital nomad taxation - Correcting F11 records

    Hi,

I left Ireland in August 2014 to do the digital nomad thing and travel around south east Asia while I worked remotely (via an Irish contracting company I own). I have not been back to Ireland since, except for a few 1 to 2 week holidays.

So what I would like my tax records to show is that I was not tax resident since 2015 and not ordinarily resident from 2018 on (I continued to be ordinarily resident in 2015,16 & 17).

However since I never formally established a tax base anywhere else, I never had an overseas tax number for those years, so my previous accountant marked me as both resident and ordinarily resident since I left Ireland.

I would like to have it reflect otherwise but when my accountant tries to edit the previous returns, it asks for a foreign tax number for previous years which I can't provide (I'm currently officially tax resident in Thailand since Oct last year, so I can from this year on).

Is there any way to correct previous records for people in my situation? Has anyone got an official answer from Revenue about this, or can you recommend a tax advisor with definite experience in this?

(And the reason I care so much is that this could have a major impact on me as I plan to sell a foreign business I own in the next 12 to 24 months).

    Thanks for any thoughts
