I’m building a foundation and have a concrete trench poured.

am going to lay blocks for the rising wall later this week

just looking for some advice on the cement mix. 3:1 sand cement? Should I add anything like the below? Looking at brooks and they have a few similar things like this and wouldn’t be sure what to go for, if anything at all

    thanks

4:1 and plasticer is essential! It makes the mortar easier to work with and stops it drying out too quickly.

dont mix too much at a time in this hot weather or keep it covered or in the mixer

use a line to keep them straight

be very careful with the plasticer, dont put in too much or it will be too sticky and make every thing harder

Fair play on making it to the next step! 😁

I went 5:1 (or 2/3 bag of cement and fill rest of mixer with sand/water) and got the blocks from Roadstone who actually threw in 5L of plasticiser which was fairly sound.

I'm sure a few veterans will say just throw in a bit of washing up liquid but might as well do it right if doing it yourself. Doesn't do any favours for efflorescence either.
