Career progression as a Healthcare Assistant?

    Hi guys,

Was just wondering if there are any real prospects in terms of career progression as a healthcare assistant? I've been enjoying my role as a HCA in a nursing home for a while now but want to advance within healthcare. I've heard of Griffith College offering a higher certificate (level 6) in Healthcare Support Practice, which apparently qualifies you as an "Advanced Healthcare Assistant Practitioner" which seems to go more into clinical skills which is nice. Have also seen the level 6 in Health Services Supervisory Management - though I'm not sure if this would offer any new career prospects.

I guess I'm just curious to know if anyone here is a HCA, or knows a HCA that has advanced in their career, or have they just remained as a HCA. I'm aware that there probably isn't too much room for career progression without doing a degree in nursing etc, but I just don't have the time or money for a 4 year degree unfortunately. But I really do enjoy working in healthcare and would prefer more clinical skill responsibilites.

Would appreciate any information if possible!
