Filling over expanding foam

We removed some trunking in a room and I filled the hike with expanding foam.

I broke off the foam and used filler on top. When it dried it was soft and I pushed in the filter. I've done that a couple of times. How can I finish it so it's a property finish?

    can you post a pic

how big of a hole is it

what kind of filler did you use. some of those ready mixed fillers set very soft . a filler that needs water added would be better

what kind of foam is it. some of them are very soft inside as well.

i would push in the foam a bit then use some 2 part filler to put a solid layer over the foam that you can then put filler onto. grip fill might works for that aswell. make sure that anything really hard like those above is well inside the hole or you will have to grind it back

Ok, will have to pick up old school polyfilla. For both the foam and the filler I used a gun dispenses product. The filler I have used plenty of before and never had an issue with a soft finish...but the fact that behind the hole is soft....

Could be the foam? When the foam is set there shouldn't be much give in it.

Some foam is very soft inside.

I got some a while back in a black tin that could be used in a gun and with the nozzle. Dont remember the name but you could push in the foam when set. The inside was very soft

€2.30 box of polyfilla did the trick. I might be done with the more expensive gun dispensed tubes, they are not really handier and you have to clean the dispensing funnel every time too.

In the olden days a newspaper was the expanding foam.
