2012 Audi A1 - Japanese import - no radio station names

    Hi all,

I just picked up a 2012 A1, Japanese import. Everything is good with the car, and the dealer made changes to the MMI unit to pickup Irish radio stations, but there are no radio station names being displayed.

The station names setting is ticked in the MMI radio settings.

    Any ideas? Thanks all!

Are you showing the correct frequencies for the stations?

Yes, all the way to 106ish mHz so if I was to take a FM expander description literally, it doesn't look to be one of those. My understanding is that they transpose Irish FM signals into the Japanese range, so the MHz would still be off.

The car only had the RTÉ radio 1 frequency on the test drive, and the rest after purchase.

Your radio may need to be coded for Europe rather than Asia so you'll need someone with VCDS who knows what they're doing. Dealers are generally lousy at that kind of stuff.

I've a VAGCOM cable laying around somewhere, fingers crossed its just a change there but I'd imagine a regional setting was changed by the dealer to get the radio to list Irish stations.

RDS (Radio Data Systems) isn't used in Japan.

So it's a possibility that your radio doesn't have this feature.

Or maybe it's something that can be activated with an update or vcds.
