PS4 disc games on PS5 DE

Hi all,

My son has the PS4 and has a few games on disc, GTA, FIFA2020 .

He got a PS5 DE recently but we can't work out how to get the PS4 games onto the PS5 (obviously we need a download version)

Any thoughts, help would be much appreciated, I expect and hope it's something daft we're doing or not doing.

Just hoping we're not going to have to buy them for a second time.

They should just work if you put the PS4 disk into the PS5? Mine do. GTA included!

Because you got the Digital PS5 his disc PS4 games as useless. He will have to buy the digital version of the game or keep his PS4 to play those games.

As far as I understand it, you can only migrate "digital" editions of games from your PS4 to the PS5 digital edition.

So you would have to buy the games again digitally via the PS store or buy the PS5 disc edition. I may be wrong but that is my understanding of it.

Christ I'm an idiot. I took DE to mean Deutschland as in they bought a PS5 from Amazon DE or something. 😄

No region locks on PlayStation discs but a non disc version PS5 obviously can't play a PS4 disc....

That's why it's 100 quid cheaper...
