Feeling hopeless

With the new Delta variant looking to ravage through society and lead to mass hospitalisation based on current projections, it’s not exactly a great time to be a student who has completed first year of college at home and hopes to actually have any sort of life from September on. There genuinely doesn’t seem to be an end to this pandemic in sight, with more variants undoubtedly on the horizon. For a generation that lost so many rights of passage; Debs, graduation, fresher’s, Christmas Day, Rag, Birthday parties, Holidays abroad, it really seems we are still being blamed for the mess our country is in. The government is now finally telling us we can access a one shot vaccine, even though pharmacies don’t even have the supply, and it appears only those we put our lives on hold to protect Will be able to benefit from any further openings of society. It doesn’t seem that any corner of the media is willing to give young people some credit for their part in tackling this pandemic, and I’m sure when we reach September, the blame will be placed square on the heads of students again and we’ll be sent back home to our mammies, deprived of any independence or social interaction with the opposite sex. Really hard to be positive atm.
