    Hi,
I've gotten a quote for a reseal of ensuite shower tray. I've tried doing it myself but needs to be stripped and new stuff down as leaking through ceiling. I'm a bit surprised at price but maybe I'm a cheapskate! Anyone recently got theirs done and could give me a rough estimate?
    Thanks!

You have tried it your self, and its still leaking down from the ceiling.

Its now time for a pro, with all the backup and insurance and guarantee he will provide.
Plus he is the expert in leaks, and more importantly in how to fix them.

I would give you a better quote for brain surgery, but I know fek all about it,
    would you want me??

Any quote is going to sound big to a cheapskate in fairness:P

    What were you quoted?

All plumbers set their own price but I would guess 100 to 150 to do this properly. Some might charge more. All old silicon needs to be removed. Everywhere needs to be cleaned & made dry before new silicone is applied. A hair dryer can speed this up. Job can take a few hours. 99 percent of the time is prep. 1 percent applying the silicone.

    250 euro.

I thought it was going to be about 150 max. 100% need a professional in and happy to pay but also don't wanna get fleeced 🀣 guess it's not so bad then.

    250 euro.

It's not outrageous if it's a good job

Are you sure the leak is between the shower tray and the bottom row of tiles ?

If the leak is in the grout or on a cracked tile a reseal may not do much for you.

In some cases the door and frame needs to be taken down to ensure a perfect job is done.

I do this every 4 or 5 years and my God I hate it. I think the first time was the worst, I got a finger nail infection and the job looked like something from a 99 machine that had gone haywire, but in fairness, it didn't leak. I've perfected my technique now, but it's not an outlandish quote if done with a high degree of skill.

Depends where it’s leaking from. In many cases there is an underlying issue with the tiling or initial prep which would require the whole thing taken out and redone to fully solve.
€250 is probably expensive if this is a patch up type silicone repair.

Andy Gosford is the man to show you how to do this job properly.
This might also give you some idea of the labour involved to do this job right
