Will be moving to Donegal in a few weeks and Climbing Errigal is on my bucket list.

I was wondering if it could be done with a decent pair of runners or is it worth an investment with hiking boots? I’ve done the Comeraghs and Knockmealdown with runners no issues but I’ve heard Errigal is more boggy?

    Doable? Yes.
    Advisable? No.

The messy part is getting to the base of the climb, very boggy, even in summer.

I've never been up it anything except for trail runners. So yes, definitely do-able

I don't think you'd have the grip/lug depth (6mm) on a pair of road/park runners suitable for open mountain.
