    Hyundai 1.4 crdi, diesel,

    173 000 km

Hi lately im having an issue well actually i don't know if it's an issue, my dpf is regenerating actively very often... Sometimes at every 300-350km driven lately last 3 he done at 380km, 260km and then 260km again.

I went to the centre they had it plugged in but no faults is showing, and the soot level they said is quite low 1 point something dont remember. No faults in sensor etc.

Have this car some time now and before i never even pay any attention to this. Now have to check before stopping after each journey if he is maybe not doing regen.

Im driving a lot, arround 160-170km per day. Car never gave my any symptoms, just one I remember i noticed very little oil rise so since then I keep an eye on regens.

Wierd thing is this car wont tell you if he is regenerating, no lights (which is crazy....)no higher temp, no higher revs on idle, stop/start system still ON , they only thing i found out it let you know is the live fuel consumption usually when you let off the throttle it's showing 0.0 consumption but when regenerating is always showing something... this is how I know and the little wierd smell from exhaust.

If the soot level are low why is he doing regen so often? they were low though because before i got to the centre he done the regen 50km ago maybe soots are low but it's full of ash and not much space for soot to collect? would high ash level show on the computer?? I asked if it should be cleand and the lad told me it's a waste of money for me as they soot is low.

I don;t know, it;s frustrating driving car like this watching for regens, if i wouldnt watch probably my engine would be gone now, as there would be extra 2 litres of oil in the engine as the extra diesel goes to the engine after you switch it of..

should i clean it anyways? or there is some other ways possible?

    thank you !

I think you have yourself wound up a bit.

Those intervals for a regen sound normal. Car is carrying out natural regens, soot/ ash levels are ok, no fault codes, no driving issues, what is the problem again?

The car is designed to regenerate without your input, so no need to fore warn you. Diesel will not dilute your engine oil with the engine off and if you are doing that kind of mileage you aren't going to suffer from dilution as a result of failed regens.

If you go at this, you'll end up creating a problem where there isn't one IMO.

Car is doing as it's supposed to do ! Leave it well alone and don't make a problem.

Soot levels are low because it's done a Regen ! It's what it's supposed to do. Which meant the soot level was high before the Regen and it required it.

    It's going a perfect job.

Ok thanks for advice. But i dont think 260km for a regen is normal. Especially when i dont do short trips. Some People say they having theirs between 500-700. Maybe ash level are high i dont know. Gonna ignored it now Cheers.

DPF reg cycle is not based on distance alone. There are a number of other factors involved.
