Are there any experienced builders on here near Tallaght who could check out my x570, Ryzen 5950, Pure base 500 case build if I brought it over to you? It powers up initially, the ram lights up but does not boot , the fans run for a short time then stop.

Its my first serious build so I might be missing something obvious.

    Thanks for reading

Not near Tallaght, but can give some basic advice to try in the mean time.
    • Try taking out the CMOS battery (CR2032 button cell battery) on the motherboard for a minute, and then putting it back in.
    • Ryzen 5950 has no internal graphics so you won't see a display without a graphics card, also make sure the HDMI or Displayport cable is attached to the graphics card and not the motherboard.
    • Take everything out of the case and try booting with the bare minimum attached, i.e. power supply, 1 stick of RAM, CPU + Cooler, Graphics.
    • Ensure the power cables are all inserted correctly (unplug and reinsert). Usually 24pin motherboard, 4 or 8pin motherboard, 8 + 6/8 pin PCI-E (Graphics card)

Sounds like the x570 needs a bios update - what model is it?

You need bios 2607 or later to support that cpu - check for that

If its not a dumb question how can I check that without access to the BIOS ?

You need a CPU that it supports to boot it up.

    What was your old one?

Just spoke with Dave at Max Burns (luckily I bought the X570 board there) who kindly offered to put in an older processor to update the BIOS . Thanks for all the helpful info guys.

If you bought it new the bios chip on the board will have a sticker with the version on it
