Completed the Bikesafe course on Saturday. Definitely worth doing. Starts with a classroom session followed by a one to one practical on road session. I’ve had a full licence since 1990 and using a bike as my main mode of transport and I still got something out of Bikesafe and found it very informative.
A big thanks and well done to all the Traffic bikers involved in the course.

I applied earlier in the month, but I got an email 3 days ago to say the pilot scheme is fully booked up.

Did it when I was starting out about 10yrs ago, only just finished my IBT. I was declined as I was not on a full licence, so I rang the copper in charge in Dublin Castle and told him that I find it incredible that I wanted to do a course to improve me as a rider and get safer and being turned away because of a licence was ridiculous.
He told me to come down the following week and he would add me in to a class of 10

Only 2 passed, me being one.

Dont think they are gonna make a film out of this story but its a nice one all the same.

I applied, got a response. But not a date or a declined application. So still holding out hope. It's a great initiative.

I only did my ibt and test, so I probably have lots of bad habits. It's definitely on my list to do some advanced rider training as I have progressed onto bigger and fast bikes.

I got a call with confirmation last Tuesday, just waiting on email with more details.

Good news. It appears there will be more days allocated so you should re apply.

I'm hoping to do it, I did apply early on.

I also did the AXA assessment, I have it in my head I want to get RoSPA Gold so I'm continuing with lessons. The lad I've been going to is a rospa instructor and tester but I'll have to be tested by somebody else obviously.

Not too many Rospa examiners around the country but I'msure your instructor will arrange someone for you when the time is right. Its a great feeling getting to the stage that you feel right to do the test irrespective of what you end up with.... Gold is just the icing on the cake, its the training and the understanding of "The System" that will stand to you far longer than any test result.

AFAIK, this will be launching again at the end of the month, this time with nationwide centres, kicking off in April.....
