    Hi all

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread please feel free to move.

We got a smart meter installed last year.

Recently we got a mail from our provider stating we can now switch to smart reader and smart reader tariffs.

They said careful considerations needs to be made as once you switch you can not revert back to the current.

Does anyone know much about this and which one is better in general from pricing etc?

    You will have three tarrifs.

If you can limit your usage at the peak time and try use most on night you will save....

Example, dish washer, washing machine, showers, heating water using immersion etc.....

If you had solar this would suit very well as you could use battery during peak and let charge during bright hours and also if needs be on night rate.....

It's worth your while spending a few minutes on Bonkers.ie doing a comparison. In my case, the 'smart' plans would cost me more.

I'd be very wary of moving to it, especially if you are on an existing day/night rate.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
