So what are people's opinions on Genesis cars?

I doubt that we will see many here in little Ireland if they even sell them here but they have some nice cars however they are not cheap and have no history or prestige here so would be a very hard sell. I would even say they will be a hard sell in the UK.

Look how much Tesla is worth and they have no history are expensive and not well made. If they get their marketing right then they will sell

Surprised that Aston Martin let them away with the emblem.

Aimed squarely at the chinese market with that grille. Ugly.

Well China isn't exactly well regarded in the nicking "influences" stakes all the way up to complete rip offs of intellectual property, so not a shock.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

If they arrived the table with some more EV's they may stand a chance, but I'd say they will be very niche. A pity as by all accounts they are as good as their German counterparts, and the designs are certainly striking.

Deprecation could also be catastrophic, despite low volume.

Isn't/Wasn't there a brand in the US called Genesis? I think they were a Nissan offshoot or something (like Lexus are to Toyota).

The vehicles in the OP link don't look too bad. People seem to think Chinese cars are a laughing stock at the moment but the same happened with the Japanese in the 60s and 70s and then the Koreans in the 80s and 90s and look what they have achieved.

I doubt these models will be sold in Ireland but there will be others.... Look at MG for instance, I'm seeing more and more of them on the road these days.

Genesis are to Hyundai, as Lexus are to Toyota, as Infinity are to Nissan.

A classier division of their classy parent company.

They've no place here since they won't be cheap and will probably only have the 2.2 diesel for school runs down the road.

Watching Doug Demuro's videos they seem like a solid secondhand option in the states as they are decent value.

There's a 3.3 2014 one driving around Dublin for a few years. It looks very well. I'd have no issue buying a used one.

Can add Citroën with DS to that list.

And honestly. I doubt it will work here. From all luxury offspring brands in Ireland, the only one that can stand it's ground is Lexus, but even then Lexus has very small share in Ireland. Don't understand me wrong, they might be great cars, but Irish love their 520d's.

Surely in the future with EV's that will level the playing field for these less well known brands, the main reason you see more bmw/mercedes/Audi than Lexus is because Lexus don't offer a diesel currently

Are they even planning on selling them here?
