Low fuel pressure problems

Hi all. I'm in need of some expertise on this one please. I've a 2013 ssangyong rodius 2.0 xdi with 55k miles on it that was running perfect until one day it started spluttering and went into limp mode and is now barely idling and won't take enough throttle to move under its own power. We've had 2 computers on it and both are showing low fuel pressure but not much else. I even contacted a ssangyong dealer the other day who don't think their software can plug into it correctly seeing as its an unusual model.

First thing checked was the fuel filter which was full of gunk so straight away we traced the problem back to a bad diesel fill.

Up until now we have removed and flushed out diesel tank several times, fitted new filter and filter housing, removed fuel rail and flushed out, replaced fuel rail pressure sensor, fitted 4 new injectors, removed high pressure pump and got done up and replaced. We've even bypassed the fuel tank and are feeding straight into the filter now but still every time she starts up its the very same result just about ticking over and low fuel pressure fault on computer.

Any advice or pointers as to where to go next? And yes I know its a ssangyong and the default answer to this question is the scrap yard but Its my 3rd rodius all be it the first one with the 2.0 xdi engine and I love them!

Thanks for any and all help.

Sorry to hear. The first thing that popped into my head was high pressure fuel pump but reading through your post you tried that already.

I find it hard to believe that a Ssangyong dealer does not have the software for one of their own cars. Is it a rare car you own? If so how did you get it, import?

I've not familiar with those engines, rare enough I'd guess. They sometimes used Mercedes engines but I think that one is Ssangyongs own design.

It sounds like you've covered a lot there. Have you looked at the throttle? Throttle body could be full of gunk?

That must have been some very bad diesel you got, have you gone back to them?

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Can you plug it in and read live data? See what the rail pressure is while cranking and on idle compared to the manufacturer spec

UK car originally but the 2.0 xdi were only produced for a short time between 2012 and 2013 before the rodius was replaced by the turismo. I'd say you could count on one hand the amount of 2.0 rodius in Ireland!

Unfortunately it wasn't as straight forward as complain to the garage. Car was lent to an in law for a couple of days and problem manifested itself a couple of days after it came back when the diesel had run down a bit so at the time for peace and harmony nothing was said as we thought a filter would solve the problems but its a long way from that now.

From memory I think it was idling at 200 bar when we had it plugged in previous.

Looks like you've covered everything. But heres a couple of ideas - don't these have a mechanical fuel regulator on them?? It has a single vacuum pipe going on to it if Im not mistaken.....well I think its that engine anyway. Might be worth looking at that.

The other thing to try is bypass the fuel filter and feed fuel straight to the injector rail..just in case you got a dodgy fuel filter. Ive seen it before with non genuine filters.

There's usually a low pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank which will feed the high pressure pump. Didn't see any mention of checking that in your post
