    Hi all,

I've got a min schnauzer 8 week old here and it has had 1st dose of DHP vaccine and 1st dose of Lepto 2 vaccine ast week in a veterinary clinic in Northern Ireland .
I live in Limerick and all the vets in my area say they only do DHPPI and Lepto 4 vaccines and I'll have to start all over again with the vaccinations in 2 weeks time . I would be happy with getting second shots of the DHP and Lepto 2.

Any one any advice on where to get the DHP and lepto 2 or should I just go for the lepto 4 and DHPPI?

Just as a matter of interest, did any of the vets question a pup of that age coming from NI? Friends in the North are being told in no uncertain terms that dogs must have a passport and rabies vaccination to cross the border.

I get the lepto4 because my dogs go all over the country, we used to go to GB regularly and we sometimes go to the continent, so I wanted full protection. I've never had any issues with it.

I wouldn’t start them again personally. Our vet stocks 3 different brands so I’d call round different vets if yours isn’t willing to order a different brand in. My pups breeder has advised against L4 but I wasn’t planning on getting it anyways after a bad experience and have spoken to my vet about this too.

Nobody questioned anything and it honestly never crossed my mind. I'd forgotten about brexit.

I would like to just finish the vaccines she has been given but I cant find anyone stocking them.

The difference between Dhppi and Dhp is parainfluenza virus, which isn't particularly important and you'll get a good level of cover even by just getting a second shot. You will still fully boost the DHP by giving a DHPPi shot.

L2 has 2 serovars of leptospirosis, L4 has the same 2 and 2 more less common ones, if you boost an L4 with an L2 you'll still have the same cover as two shots of L2, you just won't get the additional cover of the less common serovars.
