Filler for holes in gate?

New gates getting installed today blew over in the wind onto 20mm pebbles, leaving plenty of nicks as well as some holes in the front. Can anyone recommend a filler that will blend in once painted up with Sandolin?

Soak it the dents with a damp cloth, then run over it with the damp cloth pressed and the tip of a clothes iron. That will raise the worst of the dents out.

Yep, try the hot iron first, although they damage looks like gouges rather than dents.
If this doesn't work then use a plastic wood filler.

I find Rustins 2 part wood filler to be very good. Easy to sand and doesn't shrink. No idea how it works with Sadolin, but it takes water based satinwood without issue.
