As the title states, me and the woman are staying in Carlow next weekend for a night just to get a way for our first weekend away this year. I was wondering what suggestions people have to do such as walks or things to see, and what about pubs or places to eat?

    Thanks.

Teach Dolmain on Tullow Street is very hard to beat for quality food. Also they have done a great job with sizable area for outdoor dining that looks really well. As regards somewhere to visit, do not miss Delta Sensory Gardens in Strawhall which is very close to Seven Oaks
and Talbot hotels. A hidden gem with many interlocking gardens. Peaceful and serene. Also there is a superb Cafe Thyme there with wonderful offerings for lunch or maybe coffee and a cake which you can have in the gardens,

If you have a car , and the time for a trip outside of town, you could consider a trip to Duckett's Grove or Altamont Gardens.

I'll second Altamont gardens. A really lovely place to visit. Maybe a spin up to the top of Mount Leinster when you're there.

If you are heading for Mount Leinster, I will throw in Borris , the viaduct and village itself too. I would normally suggest St. Mullins with those, but it seems to be incredibly busy at present and issues with car parking too.
