Hi there. Just looking for some advice for a friend. Her parent is suffering from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Sadly, she has quickly deteriorated and has suffered a mini stroke. She has limited mobility. My friend has 3 children but her hands are full between caring for her Mum and her children. It seems at this stage that her Mother really requires 24 hour care in a home where she will have all of the support that she needs. Unfortunately another member of the family has “power of attorney” but is not in agreement with the idea of their Mum going into a nursing home. It has reached a crisis point.
Might anyone have advice on this? Or on perhaps how the power of attorney can be overturned?
Thank you so much in advance.

ModThis is not something that can be solved by internet discussion, your friend needs legal and medical advice. At very least they should contact Citizens Advice for information on what help is available, legal or otherwise.

I am temporarily closing this thread in order to discuss with the mod team on its suitability for open discussion

Edit: The mod team feels that this discussion is outside the scope of Carers as the central issue is the Power of Attorney, and it should be moved to the Legal forum. If the legal mods feel it is a suitable topic for discussion they will open it there.
