Smart Valves - Radiators

    Hey Guys,

I need to replace a number of valves on my radiators, and looking at potentially just updating all the valves to smart valves. The majority of the rads in my house would be quite old, does this matter? The boiler itself is only about 2 years old so it's new enough (it that make any difference).

Is there any particular plumbing company that would be good to approach, ideally need someone to come out to the house to see what the conditions are, I've been told at least 2 of the rads have issue with a pipe, 2 are kinda dripping as is broken/won't screw.

Has anyone got smart vales - are they worth the money? And who did you use?

How much would they normally cost, and what else do i need to buy?

It might be obvious but i have no idea about this sort of thing, and don't want to get ripped off.

    Thanks

I installed Danfoss Ally smart TRVs earlier this year. I already had 3, zones. Upstairs, downstairs and hot water. The TRVs were around 60 euro each. There are cheaper makes but I don't know if they are good or bad.

A regular plumber should be able to do all the work you require or if you were happy with the guy who replaced the boiler, he should be happy to do the valves.

Regardless of smart valves , should replace them all with TRVs anyway. Smart valves themselves are only as good as the system they are attached to monitoring temperature outputs and automatically controlling them. But it's very expensive to do an entire house.

I'd recommend doing all TRVs to unit that you can add a smart valves to later on with simple screw on unit at your leisure
