Apartment caught fire in our block, are we owed an explanation as of the cause?

A fire broke out in an apartment in our building. Thankfully, the fire brigade arrived on time and could put out the fire without evacuating the whole building, but severe smoke and heat coming from that floor, and no one could come out or in. We live in a newly built multi-units bloc that complies with fire safety, but recently, there have been some problems with electricity in our building.
As tenants, are we owed an explanation on the source of the fire? I feel shocked by this experience and want transparency as to what caused the fire.

Hard to see how you would be entitled to know how the fire started. If it was caused by an electrical fault, no doubt property owners will be informed very quickly, so presumably that information would be passed on to you.

Have you asked the people in the apartment?

Not necessarily; depends on whether the landlord actually takes any action to remedy said faults.

If the fire brigade believe there is any cause for concern no doubt they will do a thorough investigation.

Smoke alarm went off in my apartment building (there was no fire), fire brigade came, weren’t happy with a few things so they came back the next week to check the whole building.

As tenants you have no right to any information about goings on in the building from anyone other than your landlord. The management company will only give information to owners so your best bet is to contact your landlord with your concerns.

Thank you all for your answers. We received a pretty generic answer from the management company stating that our safety is their priority but no explanation as to what actually caused the fire. However, a technician visited all the apartments in the bloc on the same day in order to check the electricity fuse boxes. No news since. I am hoping there won't be any other incidents.
