Hi, I would like to know what it means when a housing estate is 'taken in charge' by the county council. Does that only happen to unfinished estates where developer went under or do all estates should eventually be 'taken in charge'?

    Thanks!

it means the council become responsible for the services in the estate ie the roads, sewers, pump stations etc.
It means any existing management company can be dissolved

the council wont take over estates which they deem to be defective or unfinished if there are any body left to make these good before the council take it in charge.

    Thanks Sydthebeat.
Do you know if there's anywhere I can find information on a housing estate to check if it was finished and is functioning properly/everything was paid to the council from the developers side etc. ?

This is usually requested by the Solicitor from the Council. To ensure all bonds, contributions etc have been paid.
