I have a brother with autism and he's been registered with this org for 2 yrs now, all they seem to be doing is bringing him in a loop with CV courses and interview skills etc. Has anybody else had any dealings with them?

    Sorry to hear that.

They're a useless quango and all they seem to do is harass people as far as I can tell. They didn't help me one iota in the year I was with them.

If they ever try to have me sign one of their "professional development plans" again, I simply wont be engaging with them.

They shouldn't be bothering your brother if he has special needs. Has anyone explained this to them? Can you accompany him into Intreo and see what they say?

I was signed off social welfare for months and they were still hounding me via text messages and calls. I ended up ringing them and revoking any permission I had unwittingly given them to contact my employers or myself.

He phoned me last night upset that one of their staff was rude to him on the phone. I've contacted a few autism employment groups to see if they can help in actually getting a placement or trial somewhere. They seem to be a bit of a sham body hired in to give the impression that action is being taken.

That's terrible. Definitely do follow up and let them know that he has special needs.

A sham body is right and if your brother finds work himself they will have no problem trying to claim that it was due to their "support".

I found them to be passive aggressive e.g.. If I didn't answer their calls there were suggestions that they might have to arrange face to face meetings with me, which would be a lot of hassle obviously.

I would get in touch and be firm that you want to revoke consent given to contact himself and employers. He has the right to do this AFAIK. I will try dig out the last email I got from them and see what it says.

    Hope you get sorted.

They are basically there to hassle the Won't Work brigade.

It's a thankless task, and also hard for them to sort the Won'ts from the Cants.

Fosussing on getting assistance from specialists is the way to go.

They basically exist to get on your back and p!ss you off to such an extent that you'll take any job going.

    Hello Seanachai,

TN. get paid just to receive your brother's name and contact info.
They employ staff who are mostly clueless and have no grasp of how to deal with people.

Their general tone of the so - called idiotic 'Personal Advisor' is dismissive and insulting.

Contact H. Humphreys the DSP minister. It will be at least A Month before anyone in her dept. wants to deal with your concern.

Also , contact all the politicians in your area. Tell them what is happening.
Some may not want to get involved because of politics😊!

I made some protest signs and protested outside the TN office in Cork city. The passers by started to ask questions.

TN are part of the notorious Jobpath which was formerly known as Jobridge.

The DSP minister , H. Humphreys made a statement many months ago stating that to the effect ,people would no longer be harrassed / threatened by Jobpath.

I wish. I was referred to them just out of college, while I was also actively looking for work. They've been of no assistance to me, and are nothing but an annoyance, who constantly try to get me to do useless courses that are of no need to me. All of said courses, were as basic as can be; how to make a CV, how to job search, how to interview. I don't struggle with any of the aforementioned, yet still they persisted. Eventually I did one just to placate them.

Outside of that, the young woman that I deal seems to have memory issues. There was several times when she asked me to do X before the next meeting, then when the meeting came she told me she'd asked me to do Y. I could tolerate it at first, but this happened 3 or 4 times in the end.

These institutions are nothing but an abject pain in the arse, if you are someone who's already genuinely trying to get work.

    This is far more accurate.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

OP, please look up your brothers local Employability service and also an organisation called Specialsterne (sp) who specifically place people with autism into employment. If he registers with one of these, they should contact DSP who will take him off the TN list

The vast majority of people know what the deal is with Turas Nua. Their business model is based on forcing people into low end jobs for a commission. There’s no way they are spending time and effort going after the ‘won’t works’.

That first poster you quoted seems to go against the grain in every thread and it’s led to some bizarre and offensive takes.
