Best Handwriting to Text Device

    I've been looking at devices that can convert handwriting to editable text so that I can make notes and prepare early drafts by hand before working with them via a PC, keyboard and Microsoft Office.

    (Online only), I've looked at
    the Remarkable, (seems very close to paper but slow and not very versatile)
    Samsung handhelds with touchscreen and hand-writing recognition (mixed reviews)
    Apple tablets with same (mixed reviews, pricey)
    Surface (best reviews, very pricey)

    I'm confused by all the options and know very little about the topic.

    Anyone else out there that uses handwriting to text technology... and if so, what do you use and how good is it?
